The Jonas apartment building on IJburg in Amsterdam is conceived as a contemporary residential project in which community is central. The striking waterfront volume combines housing with a wide range of shared and public spaces, including collective living rooms, workspaces and a roof terrace.
Open sight lines and fluid transitions between private and collective areas encourage interaction and use, allowing the building to function as a vibrant residential environment. In documenting this project, the focus was not only on architecture, but on daily life within it.
By combining photography and moving image, a narrative series emerges in which dynamics, interaction and atmosphere become tangible, making the building readable as a social structure.
